Crushing apples for wine:
It is very important to crush the apples because if any part of it is left uncrushed, then it will create problems in the steps further. For crushing the apples, you need to freeze them first and then thaw them. This process will make them softer and then the pounding begins. The difficult part here is to maintain the thickness. If food processors are used, they will give an outcome which will be too thin than required. Cutting the apples into slices will need more work further. So the best option is to use hand operated crushers. If it is not available, then cut the apples and use a food processor for a short span of time to get the right mixture.

Crushing grapes:
When it comes to crushing grapes, you have to ensure that every grape’s skin should be split. This ensures that the juice comes out of the pulp and helps in processing the pulp further. Again here as well, the balance of crushed grapes has to be maintained. If they are crushed in excess, then the wine will become bitterer and acid levels will not be as they should be. In case of grapes, it is strongly suggested not to use the food processors. The only thing that has to be done for crushing is to split the skin so that the juice can come out. If you are into serious business of making grape wines, then you must buy one of the grape crushers which are specifically designed for the purpose to give the best outcome. In fact, there are crushers which can crush multiple kinds of fruits. Depending on the amount of fruits used, one can buy lightweight handled crusher or machinery like crusher.

Other things to take care of:
Generally, fruits are frozen before crushing but an exception to this approach is made when it comes to making wine out of peaches and apricots. They are not frozen as they get spoiled. For all other fruits, make sure you wash them properly before processing them further. Another thing you should keep care of while buying is to buy fully ripened fruits. Otherwise the wine will not have fully flavoured taste. If you are using a fruit which has a very strong taste or flavour, then mix the fruits with some amount of water during the crushing stage. All these factors will affect the final quality of the wine.

Wine making is an art in itself and every little thing matters to enhance the quality of the end result. So keep the above mentioned points in mind while making wine of different fruits.
